Vera Primavera (Verónica Ibarra Jácome) is an Ecuadorian artist based in Mexico City whose practice moves between painting, muralism and object-making. Trained as an architect, she began her career in graffiti and muralism, developing a sustained practice of intervention in public space.
Alongside this public dimension, Vera’s work explores the body, identity, and women’s lived experience. Her recent solo exhibitions Monstrorum Matris at MMAM in Cuenca and Corpus Mater at Arte Actual in Quito examine the physical, affective, and symbolic transformations associated with the female body and motherhood, understood as territories of conflict and identity formation.
In her most recent work, Primavera turns toward selfportraiture, memory, and intimate forms of archive. Her practice considers art as a way of constructing memory and resisting the erasure of women’s experiences.
Her work has been exhibited in Mexico, Ecuador, and France, and has been featured in publications including Revista de la Universidad de México and ELLE México. Her work is part of the permanent collection of the Museo Municipal de Arte Moderno de Cuenca.
